Hi, everyone
is pleased to present to you as our Featured Special Guest Artist today.
Please give a warm welcome to ShanghaiSarah and visit her gallery. It's a truly moving experience
Without further ado, on with the interview!
1 - Could you tell us a little about yourself, and when did you find that you were interested in Traditional Art?
Hi - My name is Sarah Stowe and I was born in the UK, but currently live in Shanghai, China. My husband’s work brought us to China, 8 years ago. We have 2 children and 2 cats.
From a very young age, I would sit with my father sketching and loved to watch my grandfather sketch passing people and the family pet, so for as long as I can remember I’ve always been interested in traditional art.
2 - How did you join DeviantArt?
I’ve known about DeviantArt for years and loved all the varieties of art but never joined. It was my husband Paul Stowe: Paul-Shanghai who put me on here; he is such an inspiring artist and is always very encouraging as I am a terrible procrastinator!
3 - What attracts you to Traditional Art, as an art form?
I think it’s the ability to create/express and use ones imagination.
I also find it very relaxing.
4 - Your gallery is filled with such beautiful, and wonderfully breathtaking imagery. Could you tell us about the process that evolves from an idea, into the finished artwork that you upload?
Idea's usually come from the wonderful stock images here on dA, a family photograph or even a song I’m listening to – I tend to roughly sketch out the idea and to be honest the final piece doesn’t always match the idea in my head or paper. Usually I know what medium I would like to produce it in, but have been known to change half-way through.
5 - Which are your favourite works in your gallery, and why do they hold a special place in your heart?
My favourite piece is After Lunch. It brings back such a lovely memory of my daughter and nephew, on a beautiful summers day.
I enjoyed painting Au Café Liliana, for my husband.
Past Times I loved painting - very quickly, it came together, and I have a passion for vintage.
6 - Our final question would be: which other artist(s) do you admire on DA?
There are so many on here I admire, so this is a tough question!
So, I will have to go with people, that I first watched.
